RURAL FRIENDS COMMUNITY LUNCH
Every 2nd Monday of the month, we hold an informal and friendly lunch at 12.30 for local residents to meet and bring people together.
This is a 2-course meal with tea/coffee and costs just £10, and is much appreciated by all.
Numbers are limited to 20, so if you are interested, please book your place beforehand
with Kieran, our Chef, on 01934 244362
RURAL FRIENDS - COMMUNITY TRANSPORT INITIATIVE
The Frankie Howerd OBE Trust is offering a wonderful service for senior citizens in the BS26 postcode area.
Every Thursday morning our community bus will come to homes to pick up senior citizens to visit our new café and hub in Loxton for a drink, snack and a chat, and then take you home. This service will be free, although passengers will have to pay for their food and drink at the café.
The aim is to help people get together and make friends.
To take part, phone or text 07881 630629 or email [email protected]
Please pass this on to those who would benefit from this service but who may not have access to the Internet.
Many thanks to National Grid and the National Lottery Community Fund for giving us the money necessary to purchase our 16-seater minibus, and to M4 Van Centre in Swindon for providing us with the vehicle and doing some great upgrades for free.
Joanna has been amazingly supportive in our quest for a minibus which is crucial in providing transport for so many in the BS26 area.
We have already done several day trips which are especially appreciated by those who can't get out on their own or who don't feel confident in going out.
Our minibus can also be hired out, so if you have a group of friends or are part of a club or society in the BS26 area,
we may be able to take you to your destination (and bring you home!) or you can drive it yourself - certain terms and conditions apply.
Just contact Phil Davies on 07881 630629 with your plans or ideas, or email [email protected] We look forward to hearing from you!

We are delighted to feature on the opening pages of this beautiful, hand-painted booklet by Steve Kinsella which publicises local cafés in our area. Originally intended for cyclists, it is a great asset if you want to pop out for a nice cup of tea or coffee! Not just informative, it is (literally) a work of art. These booklets can be purchased from our own café.
We are hoping to create a pool of drivers for our new minibus. If you passed your driving test before 1997, you should have the D1 entitlement which allows you to drive a minibus until the age of 70. From April, we are also looking for volunteers who can give up a couple of hours a week to help out in the café, otherwise we may not be able to stay open every day. If you are interested in driving the minibus and/or helping out in the café, please contact Phil Davies (minibus) on 07881 630629 or Kieran (café) on 07384 561369. Thank you!
Many congratulations to Kieran whose efforts in the kitchen have been rewarded with a 5-star commendation for hygiene from North Somerset.
Bon appétit
